~It’s our honor to raise wonderful Irish Black and Tan Jack puppies~
Aislinge Bray Terriers
~At Aislinge Bray conscientious breeding is our utmost responsibility~

We are the only breeder in the United States with old established lines of
Irish Black and Tan Jack Russell Terriers.
Many breeders have attempted to bring the Black and Tans back from near extinction
by crossing different dog breeds in an attempt to achieve the same look.
At Aislinge Bray you can be confident you are getting a puppy from the old established Irish lines.
Real Irish Black and Tans are indeed a rare find!

We do not dock the tails of our puppies or remove their dew claws.
I personally do not agree with the practice of docking tails (cutting off part of the tail) or removing the dew claws (which are a small non-functioning claw located on the inner part of the front legs slightly above the foot) on new born puppies or dogs. The reason for this view point is they are unnecessary surgical procedure and because a dog needs it's tail for balance. The dog's tail also tells us how a dog is feeling which benefits everyone. It's always good to know if an unfamiliar approaching dog is happy, playful, stressed, ill, fearful or ready to fight. A dog's tail can show us what the dog is thinking if you know how to read it.
Docking tails and removing the dew claws are surgical procedures performed on puppies that are only two days old. At two days old our Black and Tan Jack puppies weigh 3 to 6 ounces and are maybe 5 inches long. They would fit in the palm of an adult's hand. The tail docking and dew claw removal procedures cause pain and trauma to a tiny puppy and there is a risk of infection in the wounds. All for an unnecessary procedure. There is no medical reason to dock the tail or remove the dew claws of a puppy. These practices are of tradition only with no real benefit to the dog.
Ireland breeders are no longer permitted to dock the tails of their puppies or dogs unless it's for a medical reason like injury or trauma to the tail. It's only a matter of time before the USA decides it's an unnecessary practice and starts forbidding the docking of the tail on man's best friend.
